Welcome to the wonderful work of ministerial involvement at St. Thomas More! Below you will find a sampling of some of the ministries at STMP. If you have a talent that you wish to share with your parish family, but don’t know where to start, please contact the Rectory and we’ll help you find your niche!


Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion: Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion serve the parish family by distributing the Body and Blood of Christ with reverence to all those gathered at Mass. This is an ideal ministry for you if: -You attend Mass regularly -You want to be of service to the parish once a month -You recognize the centrality/importance of the Eucharist.

Lectors: Lectors serve the parish by proclaiming the Word at parish Liturgies. Our wonderful lectors familiarize themselves with the Word beforehand and give a clear and thoughtful reading that brings the Word alive for the gathered community. Consider becoming a part of this ministry if: -You love and are committed to the Bible -You attend Mass regularly -You are interested in being involved but are short on time.

Prayer Shawl Ministry:
Members of this ministry knit a simple shawl to be given to people in need of blessings and prayers. Each shawl is blessed by Father McCarthy and is personally delivered by a member of the ministry along with prayers for comfort and support.

RCIA: The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, or RCIA, is a vibrant ministry that helps those interested in becoming Catholic. There are many areas of involvement open to those interested in RCIA including being a sponsor, reflecting on the readings during Mass or being a full fledged team member. This is a great ministry for those who:

-Are interested in sharing their faith with others.

-Have a hectic schedule and seek flexibility in volunteering

-Want to enrich their own faith in the process.


Baptismal Preparation: St. Thomas More helps to prepare both parents and godparents for the baptism of their child/godchild. By taking part in this preparation, they are able to participate in and celebrate the child’s baptism into our faith community to the fullest. Part of the preparation for these parishioners is hearing from parents who are currently bringing up their children Catholic. Consider being involved in this ministry if

-You are willing to share your experiences as a Catholic parent/parents with a group

-You care about helping new parents become involved in our community

-You can give a couple of hours at least once a year.
